USA cycling coach
I have been certified by USA cycling to coach cyclists! Wow I have been wanting to do it for a couple years. I have also learned the ins and outs of Power training. Along with me wife Erin we can offer personal training and cycling coaching. I also have a network of other professionals from massage, bike fit and muscle activation as well as mental training to help clients to get the most out of there bodies and minds. Rates and packages are being designed now.

Training and Coaching
It has been a long time between post. I have been training hard for the last couple weeks and trying to get the 2009 season in order with respect to sponsorships and races to do. My coach Chris Mayhew is writing my training plans. I think that he is trying to see what it takes for my legs to fall off! I will be riding for Bike and Hike here in Longmont. Rick Emerson hooked us up with some great sponsors so I will be riding a Trek Mo Bike. Crocs and Udis granola are a sponsor for the year as well as Zeal optics. I look forward to eating the granola before races then tearing up the single track.
Sunday Feb 8 I rode with Rick and we did Heil to Hall and back 3 hrs of single track and 4100 feet of climbing. Rick rode the sweetest mo bike a Trek 9.9 SL ,the only one in the state. It weighs in at 21 pounds! ready to ride! Sick! Nice ride Rick we rode hard and had a great time!
Two weeks ago I received my USA cycling coaching license level 3. Now i can start coaching some riders and have fun getting them faster and fitter! With my wife Erin's personal training and nutrition background we are set to really help people in all areas of cycling.

I have a Coach
My second ever blog entry. For 2009 I am working with a coach for the first time in 20 years of racing. I got my program on Jan 5th and started completing the daily workouts. I hired Chris Mayhew from JBV coaching. I will be updating the blog as time goes on with how the workouts and my fitness are coming. Also for 2009, I hope to become a USA cycling level 3 coach. I have completed all the requirements and I am just waiting to hear bake for USA cycling. Working with Chris will help me with my coaching. On to other things, Blue Collar Cycling will be in hibernation for the next few months, hopefully to reappear for Cyclocross, if I can find sponsors. I am working with Rick at Bike and Hike in Longmont Colorado to start a team out of Bike and Hike. We have some great sponsors and Rick is a terrific guy. I had a very hard time finding sponsors for 2009. With all the talk of a "weak" economy people are scaling back from sponsorships.

Thank You to 2008 Sponsors and Friends
2008 has gone and I finally started a Blog. This entry will be, in a nut shell, about last year. First I would like to thank my sister-in-law and brother for their help in getting sponsorship from Keller Williams. They wrote the proposal letter, coordinated the logo design and basically made Blue Collar Velo go from a dream to an actually team. Thanks to Crocs for the sweet footwear, Honey Stinger for the energy to keep me riding, Maverick Bikes for the SWEET STEED, Maxxis for the great Treads, Greg Styles for Mental and Spiritual support and for Martial Arts Sponsorship, Zeal Optics for the awesome shades, and my wife and kids for putting up with my addiction.
I had a great year on the bike; I raced more this year than I have in the past 5 years. It started off with some road racing, then I moved solely to the Mountain Bike. I raced the Front Range 50 and the Firecracker 50, both of which I could have felt much better. I raced 2 Mountain States Cup races, Fruita and Nathrop, beautiful areas and great courses. Winter Park has always had some of the best courses in Colorado as well as great competition. I started out with the hill climb and raced 5 races in the series and ended up 2 nd overall out of 1st by one lousy point.
The next sufferfest was phycocross. I met up with Brook Watts of local Cross fame and we trained together at least 2 times a week. I had my best cross season to date. I raced in the 35 plus, old pros, and they are fast! I raced 8 times and had my best race at the Boulder Cup at Harlow Park. What a great course! After States I took two weeks off and enjoyed some much needed rest. The season was brought to a close with a party at our house with some old Cross racers I have known for a long time (Karl Keister, Chill Bill Haar, Brook Watts, Derrick Nickle and Reid Akerman). They all ride for Great Divide so we had some great beer and a potluck, Mexican style. Derrick Nickle supplied the entertainment as well as Reid Akerman. It was a great night of fun and drinks. Thanks Guys! Now I am recharged and ready for 2009.
